How to Prepare / Make / Cook - Malai dal ?


Malai dal

2 cups urad dal. 5 cups milk. 4 tblsps. Cream. 1 tsp. Cumin seeds. 1 small onion, minced, 1 inch piece ginger, minced. 1 small tomato, finely sliced. 2 green and 2 red chillies, minced. 1 tsp. Turmeric powder. Salt and chilli powder to taste.

Soak dal in water for 4 hours. Bring the milk to a boil, reduce heat and put in dal after draining out its water and turmeric powder and cook over a low fire. Stirring frequently until the dal turns very soft and completely dry. Put in the cream and cook for 2 more minutes. stirring all the time. Remove from fire and keep it hot. Heat 1 tblsp. And toss in ginger. cumin and chillies. When the seeds start popping. Add tomato and onion and cook for a couple of minutes. sprinkle on dal a little garam masala. Pepper, ground shahjeera and mango powder and on-top put the fried onion mixture serve immediately.
