How to Prepare / Make / Cook -Dal chat ?

125 grams sprouted whole moon (see helpful hints). 125 grams beaten curds. 1 large potato, boiled, peeled and diced. ½ bunch finely sliced coriander leaves.4 green chillies, minced. 1 medium onion, finely sliced. 50 grams dates. 50 grams tamarind. 1 tsp. Each of roasted and ground cumin seeds, garam masala and chilli powder. Lime juice to taste.

For puries: 4 tblsps. Each of suji and maida. Salt to taste.

Mix together rava and maida and salt and add enough water tyo forma a stiff dough. Set the dough aside for 15 minutes and then knead it again. Divide the dough into lemon-sized balls and roll out as thinly as possible with the help of a little flour. Cut into small rounds with the cap of some bottle. Deep fry a few at a time until crisp and golden. Drain thoroughly and cool. Keep aside half a dozen puries ofr garnishing and crush the rest of the puries coarsely. Boil dal until tender and completely dry. Soak the tamarind in half cup water. Then squeeze out the pulp and strain. Pit and grind the dates to a fine paste and mix in the tamarind along with salt, garam masala, cumin seed powder and chilli powder. Mix the dal with all the ingredients with the exception of whole puries. Put in a deep dish. Sprinkle lime juice over the top along with coriander leaves. Serve cold garnished with whole puries.
