How to Prepare / Make / Cook - Bhien kheema ?


Bhien kheema
250 grams bhien. 250 grams green peas. 250 grams tomatoes, diced. 2 tblsps. Beaten curds. 2 large onions. 6 flakes garlic. 1 inch piece ginger. 4 green chillies, minced. Handful of chopped coriander leaves. ½ tsp. Turmeric powder. 1 tsp. Each of ground cumin seeds andgaram masala. A few curry leaves, sliced. Dash of pepper. Salt and chilli powder to taste.

Clean and boil bhien until tender, then fry to a golden colour in ghee and chop coarsely. Grind together onion, ginger and garlic. Heat 2 tblsps. Ghee and fry the ground paste to a golden colour. Put in spices and fry briefly. Then add curds and tomatoes and cook till the ghee floats to the top. Put in the peas and chillies. Mix well and then pour in 2 cups water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and cook till the peas are tender. Add bhien and continue cooking till the gravy turns thick. Serve hot garnished with coriander leaves.
