How to Prepare / Make / Cook -Vadia alu ?


Vadia alu

8 moong dal vadies. (see helpful hinats). 1 inch piece ginger, minced. 4 green chillies, minced. 3 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed. 3 big tomatoes, blanched and sliced. ½ tsp. Turmeric powder. ½ tsp. Each of garam masala and ground cumin seeds. ½ cup hot milk. Salt and chilli powder to taste.

Heat 4 tblsps. Ghee and fry the vadies till red. Drain and set aside in the same ghee. Put in ginger and chillies and all the spices and fry briefly. Put in tomatoes and salt and cook till the ghee oozes out. Add vadies and potatoes. Mix nicely. Pour in 1 cup of water and cook till the vadies and potatoes are both done. Pour in the milk and remove from fire. Serve hot.
